Dated 26 January 2007: Finicky RSS Aggregators

Planet doesn't seem to play nice all the time. Wakusei was down for a while due to an irregularity in one of the feeds. Deleting the cache fixed the problem, but I'd prefer this thing not require so much hand-holding.

I also re-added the blog of Chihara Minori (Nagato Yuki's voice actress) since her RSS 1.0 feed doesn't seem to have the same issue that her Atom 0.3 feed did. (Every single post kept reappeararing as new every day.)

In other news, it appears Hirano Aya is back to posting a lot. A lot a lot.

Dated 22 February 2007: Seiyuu Blogs and Syndication

So apparently Banana Mizuki and Yui Horie both revamped their blogs and in so doing eliminated their RSS/Atom feeds.

Eh, they'll be back. Besides, with Aya Hirano updating in the double digits each day, it's already hard enough to keep pace with Wakusei.

Dated 31 August 2007: Sekai still not broken. Confidence increases in Planet, cron

The anime blog-o-rama that I follow consists of the feeds at Raspberry Heaven's Mainichi and the feeds that I aggregate on my own Planet, in-aptly named Sekai. (Wakusei I used for my seiyuu blog aggregator.)

Initially, both my Planets would frequently hang for no apparent reason, or cron would decide to give them the miss arbitrarily. However, both aggregators have been working fine for a while now, with no improvements or bug fixes on my part, so I'm at a loss to explain their recent reliability.

Incidentally, both truncate feeds deliberately. Planet shows the entire entry by default, but I prefer seeing excerpts.

Dated 30 January 2008: Situation Normal

I hate upgrading Wordpress. Although it's easy to do, I still find it unsettling and usually worry that I'm going to make some boneheaded mistake.

I've also stolen ani-nouto's plugin for displaying older entries first, although the navigation links are now counter-intuitive. [Edit: Should be fixed now.]

In other news I encourage giving PlaneteS a second try. At the very least don't let one Space Ninja episode sour an otherwise excellent show.

Also, buy M-Lock DVD cases.

Dated 8 March 2008: Planet Dance

So, Wakusei keeps breaking. As far as I can tell, something in the chain doesn't like the character set of one of the feeds. Most of the time I can fix it by deleting the cache.

What I ought to be doing instead of blogging about it is adding something to my crontab to delete the cache preemptively, or find out if I can disable it all together. In fact, I should probably be doing that right now....

But I'm not, so random posts will continue to break Planet until I get around to fixing it. For now, we can all just blame these problems on Hirano Aya (even though it's really Kadowaki Mai's fault nearly every time).

Damn you, Hirano Aya! Why must you torment us!

Dated 18 April 2008: Anime Nano, a family-friendly aggregator of anime blogs

In other news, I noticed Anime Nano didn't pick up a recent entry about the Ai Yori Aoshi visual novel for Windows. I wonder if it was because I used the F-word in the title or just a coincidental glitch? Perhaps I should have called for more trophy-loving.

Dated 7 July 2008: I refuse to make a "greener Planet" joke

Since the Planet scripts were consuming too many CPU resources, I have severely truncated both Sekai and Wakusei.

To tell you the truth, you're probably better off nowadays just using any one of many excellent feed aggregators currently available, picking and choosing your own subscriptions.

And don't feel bad if your blog got cut. I still read it.

Dated 8 August 2008: Situation Normal

I finally upgraded Wordpress again. If all went well, next time I need to upgrade I'll be able to do it via SVN. If it didn't go well, expect more downtime.
