2 January 2017: All Fate/All the Time

Ritsuka and Mash
This means you're married now.

There are two Fate/stay night TV anime series and the first of three Heaven's Feel movies coming out in 2017. In addition to this, Fate/Grand Order also dropped its 72-minute -First Order- commercial on the last day of 2016. It seems...excessive. It also doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me to learn Fate/Apocrypha is based on a light novel series. Fate/Extra at least is going to be a SHAFT x SHINBO show, which I suppose is good news for those of you who like that sort of thing. I'm at least sort of optimistic because it features the Tange Sakura-type Saber, who was at least pretty great in Carnival Phantasm.

Mash, Ritsuka, and Fou
So, how is your day going? Good?

Speaking of Saber, Kawasumi Ayako was in Fate/Grand Order [pause] -First Ordah- as a well-dressed Pretty Cure mascot, but basically unrecognizable. Canna Nobutoshi also returns as Cú Chulainn, who single-handedly saves First Order from being a complete disaster by providing some really good moments including a fantastically absurd one that's too great to spoil.

Lev
You can tell this dude is evil because he wears a hat indoors.

The rest of Fate/Grand Order -First Order- was otherwise wall-to-wall impenetrable exposition occasionally interrupted by Potato-kun and his half-Servant, half-moéblob co-star, Mash (I swear to Haruhi, they must have intended for her name to be Matthew and someone fucked it up along the way), almost doing something. As it turned out, Mash and Potato-kun did fuck all the entire time except hide behind a shield until Cú Chulainn bailed them out as he seems wont to do. Someone needs to tell Mash that the best defense is a good offense.
