17 September 2018: I dropped two ghost-girlfriend shows in Summer 2018

Yuuna and Kogarashi
A ghost with legs? Inconceivable.

The main reason why I started watching Shichisei no Subaru (Seven Senses of the Re'Union) and Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs) was because both shows featured ghost girlfriends and thus gave me an excuse to pad the Ghost Girlfriends tag on my blog. Besides, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and Nanana's Buried Treasure were both good, even if Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? was, uh, not.

Asahi
Asahi can also see the future except when it would be convenient.

I watched seven episodes of Shichisei no Subaru before finally losing interest. I liked that Asahi's fantasy world avatar's weapon of choice was a literal handgun, and I enjoyed the ominous implication that nefarious corporate assholes were using her corpse to power their VRMMORPG. However, there were entirely too many elements in the story itself that made absolutely no sense (and this coming from a viewer who is willing to believe the dead body of a little girl can be used to run an online video game), and I didn't care about any of the twists that were revealed in the first seven episodes.

Asahi
Satsuki's two biggest features: (1) Her crush on Potato-kun. (2) Being mostly useless.

Honestly, I wish the show had spent more time developing the implied parts shown in the ED. I.e., Asahi's crushing boredom and loneliness at being a dead girl who can't log out and apparently doesn't sleep either. I guess .hack//SIGN sort of did that already, though.

Yuuna
It's the sort of show where this happens a lot.

Although I probably would have been willing to finish watching Seven Senses of the Re'Union if I had nothing better to do, finishing two episodes of Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san was a chore. It borrows heavily from Love Hina in terms of its setting and assortment of characters. It's by no means a Love Hina clone, but it's also not unique enough to justify watching. Viewers who haven't watched entirely too much anime already will probably get a lot more out of the show. Me, I couldn't find a reason to continue watching, and its two-episode score puts it below the Cosprayers Line. I ain't watched a show that was WORSE THAN COSPRAYERS in over a year, so I guess it has that going for it.
